FARA VOCE

FărăVoce is a dance project from 2016, for young people that uses hip hop to explore a challenging topic in European history and deepen understanding of Europe's largest minority: the Sinti and Roma.

When Sinti and Roma are mentioned, images often come to mind: notions of poverty, crime, and a lack of ability or willingness to assimilate. Old prejudices from film, theater, and literature blend with modern perceptions.

This project challenges the often knee-jerk rejection as well as the entrenched prejudice that Sinti and Roma supposedly pose to society.

We examine our own prejudices and shed light on the reasons, consequences, and structures of the still widespread aversion or hostility towards Sinti and Roma across Europe.
